Dr. Willis E. Everette Collection, ca. 1880s-1910s.

The Dr. Willis E. Everette Collection consists of 43 loose photographs and a scrapbook containing original pen and crayon drawings by Willis Everetee and 67 photographs. The bulk of the photographs were taken in southeastern Alaska, but the collection also includes photographs from the Yukon. Subjects include gold mining, ships, city and village scenes, landscapes, churches and missions, and geological and geographic features such as glaciers and rock formations. The pen and crayon works include drawings of Fort Reliance and scenes from the St. Michaels area. Drawings and photographs in the scrapbook are accompanied by extensive notes.

Dr. Willis Everette started his career as an assayer at the Home Stake Mine in the Black Hills of South Dakota. In 1884, he took a job as a government agen, making his first trip to Alaska in that year. He met the photographer Larouche while on board ship and acquired a number of Larouche's photographs.
